Champorado
If you've been to the Philippines, you should have tried Champorado. Champorado or better known as Chocolate Rice Porridge is one of the popular merienda desserts in the Philippines.
Well, at least in my opinion.
I love Champorado. I got so used to eating this during merienda time (afternoon break) and take it in with gusto.
While taking a break from work (and waiting for the bug in the system to be fixed), I decided to cook a packed Champorado. Easier to prepare---perfect for busy Mommies. Gotta hand it to Champ-O-Rado!
Anyway, while I'm a wee busy preparing, Adley's pretty absorbed with his toaster. It's unplugged. He just loves the sound.
If you think Champorado is a great dessert, (my apologies though as I have not provided good photos for this) here's a complete recipe of the authentic one:
4 to 5 pieces of unsweetened Tablea boiled in 1/2 cup water (melted)
1 cup rice
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup brown sugar
Procedure
1. Cook rice in a saucepan with water.
2. Stir constantly.
3. When rice is a bit transparent , add the melted tablea and sugar.
4. Cook until rice is tender. Adjust sugar to taste. If rice mixture is too dry, add a little more water. I prefer my champorado to be a bit soupy.
5. Serve in a bowl and place swirls of evaporated milk on top.

Anyway to add something to that recipe. My advice is that when adding sugar, it's also best to follow your instinct. It really depends on how sweet you want it to be. Tableas (Cocoa blocks) seems to be a rare find there so I suggest that you use Cocoa powders of your choice.

Update:
He just chewed on a battery, it looks bad. I have no idea where and how he got it.
I'm freaking out!
Another update:
He's doing okay. I called up his Doctor. :)
Update as of 9:34 pm:
We found out where he got the AA Battery, apparently he got it from the TV's remote control!

You're welcome Sea Bird! And thank you for dropping by! Hmmm...if you can find Cocoa blocks that's the tablea that we refer here. But if not you can use Raw Chocolate Powder or maybe Pernigotti Cocoa would be good. Muscovado sugar is also a great alternative for normal sugars. I forgot to say that it's better to decide how many sugar you'll put in your champorado ('cause this depends on how sweet you want it to be.)
